In Corona times, there are strict rules on board cruise ships.
Tui Cruises has now proven this again by abandoning two passengers.
After a long break, some shipping companies have finally set sail again with their cruise ships - or will soon. To ensure the safety of the guests on board, however, there are strict corona rules. Access is usually only allowed with a negative Covid-19 test, some shipping companies only allow it with a full vaccination. The protective measures at Tui Cruises and the “Mein Schiff” fleet include closed-circuit shore excursions. That means: A shore leave is currently only possible in the form of a shore excursion arranged by Tui Cruises.
It is not permitted to leave the ship individually
. However, it was precisely this rule that two passengers broke last - and immediately felt the consequences.

The “Mein Schiff 5” is currently underway in Greece, where guided excursions ashore are possible.
"Our hygiene concept, which has been coordinated with the Greek authorities, currently only provides for shore excursions in groups and no individual
shore
excursions," a spokeswoman confirmed to the online portal

Before booking, however, guests would be
explicitly advised that removing them from the group could lead to the exclusion from continuing their journey

However, two “Mein Schiff 5” guests were not put off by this rule and still went off on their own.

The reaction of the cruise crew followed promptly:
"Mein Schiff 5" continued without the two passengers
and left them in Greece.
The fact that Tui Cruises is consistent in this matter should be known to guests by now.
Similar incidents have happened again and again in the past - in autumn of last year, two passengers were no longer allowed on board after a shore excursion in Greece because they had moved away from the group.
Those affected had to arrange a separate trip home with the help of the shipping company.
