Fear of noise and depreciation

Noise and vibration protection, train speeds, construction phase, redesign of the track structure, nature and environmental protection: the online event, with which the railroad operates the upgraded ABS 38 section on the 7.2 kilometer section between the communities of Wörth, Pastetten and Ottenhofen, dominated the field introduced.

Southern district - In the summer, the documents for the approval process are to be submitted to the Federal Railway Authority.

According to the railway, 120 people took part in the online event.

The numerous questions were asked via chat.

Project manager Max Cibis explained the plans, Alexandra Kratsch (public relations) moderated.

The fears and criticism of affected railroad residents were reflected in the many written questions.

“Why doesn't the railway put its tracks in a trough.

Aren't we worth it? ”Was a question for the Hörlkofen area.

That was a question of profitability, replied the project manager and emphasized: "That would be far too expensive."

The following question was asked for Hörlkofen: “Why is there no noise protection for the weekend house area on Ziegeleistraße?” In order to clarify this, the expert should be consulted again. With regard to the planned large road bridge on Rottmanner Strasse, questions were asked about how cyclists and pedestrians would cross the railroad tracks in the future. The cyclists had to use the street, an emergency path was accessible on foot. There is no solution for a sidewalk or bike path.

Another question was why the noise protection in Unterschwillach was mostly only 1.5 meters high.

That has to do with the usage and residential units.

“The appraiser looks at the pollution.” Noise protection was also required for the southern development in Unterschwillach.

“The track structure remains as before”, was the answer to the question of whether the embankment should be removed or filled up in this area.

From the perspective of the railway, Cibis believed that the concern that the property would generally be expected to decrease in value due to noise pollution and increased train frequency was unlikely.

After all, "for the first time" in this area, noise prevention is being implemented, which has a positive effect despite the two-track system and more train traffic.

In this context, someone wanted to know how high the train volume would be after the line was expanded. The following applies to both directions: Today's local traffic will double, and freight train traffic will be subject to a surcharge of 30 percent. In the future, long-distance traffic with around 20 trains will pass through the towns at a maximum speed of 200 km / h without stopping in the towns. In any case, there are fewer trains running at night, but there is no break in operations. "New tracks mean more rail traffic," was a comment on the chat. The aim is that in the end “all trains will run electrically after commissioning”, with a certain transition period being taken into account, the project manager of the railway informed.

“Do hamlets also have a chance of soundproofing?

Or is there slouching here like on the A 94? ”Was feared.

Cibis again cited the “independent expert” who examined the need for protection.

"Soundproof windows are of no use to me if I have no more peace and quiet in the garden later," was commented critically.

Cibis said in a nutshell: “It'll be loud during the construction phase.” Work will also be carried out on weekends and sometimes at night.

The start of the double-track expansion on this section of the route is planned for 2026, and construction is expected to take three to four years.

A written request to speak was asked what the "specially monitored track" in areas with residential developments was all about.

This concept provides for regular rail grinding with technical monitoring to reduce noise and vibrations, was the answer.

Nature and environmental protection were also addressed.

If valuable ecological compensation areas, such as those on Rottmanner Strasse, are lost due to the bridge structure, an equivalent replacement will be provided elsewhere, it said.

Rotwild could still cross the track where no noise barriers were built.

At the end of the two-hour online event, Alexandra Kratsch pointed out that written questions would also be answered afterwards.

Objections could already be sent to the railway now.

The recording of the event is available at www.abs38.de
