A discussion of particularly powerful "arguments" in the Bolivian parliament.
The opposition politician Henry Montero and Antonio Colque from the ruling Socialist Party attacked each other.
The latter suffered visible injuries.
Antonio Colque, MP for the ruling socialist party
“You grabbed me and pulled my back, together with your colleagues. That must not be. We firmly reject this type of physical, psychological and verbal violence. We no longer live in times of racism. "
The dispute sparked over the question of the legality of the transitional government, which was in office after the resignation of former President Evo Morales in 2019.
At that time there was massive unrest in the country, at least 33 people died, including many members of the indigenous population.
Other MEPs literally fought each other in the conflict over this issue.
Henry Montero, MP for the opposition party
“I apologize very much for what happened here. But all we ask is that they stop calling us criminals and murderers and that they stop taking advantage of the pain of the Bolivians who died in Senkata [in 2019]. "
Members of the indigenous population are still demanding clarification of the deaths known as the "Senkata massacre".
