Princess of Asturias Award
for Literature for having built "a highly personal work that generates a new space for expression that
blurs the boundaries between reality and fiction
", according to the jury.

- who visited Argentina in 2013 - was recognized with this prestigious award because he has "had a notable influence on the literature of our time, in addition to showing a strong commitment to writing as vocation inseparable from life itself ", according to the ruling.
In this sense, "his books contribute to unmasking
the human condition
and relentlessly dissect reality," adds the jury that this year was chaired by Santiago Muñoz Machado and incorporated names such as Leonardo Padura, Laura Revuelta Sanjurjo and Carmen Riera Guilera.
Throughout this edition of the Princess of Asturias Award, the artist
Marina Abramovic
in the discipline of Arts;
the American feminist Gloria Steinem in Communication and Humanities;
the economist Amartya Sen in Social Sciences and the swimmer Teresa Perales in Sports.
