In As-Suwayda Governorate, wheat harvesting operations began this month in the various planting sites in the governorate.

The Director of Agriculture in Sweida, Engineer Ayham Hamed, indicated in a statement to SANA Economic Bulletin that the harvested areas with the start of the harvest operations exceeded 14,620 dunums, indicating that the pace of harvest increases gradually in the next few days and will continue during the current and next two months.

Engineer Hamed said that some of the harvestable areas are harvested manually due to the lack of sufficient lengths for the work of the combines, while there are areas within which the combines can work.

For his part, the director of the Syrian Grain Corporation in As-Suwayda, Engineer Youssef Wehbe, indicated in a similar statement that all facilities are provided to farmers to market the crop, which included adding a bonus of 100 pounds to the price of each kilo delivered to the establishment, paying transportation fees and increasing its value per ton from 2000 pounds to 9000 pounds for those who transport The crop to the Umm al-Zaytoun mill and from 1000 to 6000 Syrian pounds for those who transport the crop to the farm center, in addition to providing diesel at the subsidized price of 50 liters for the transportation distance of more than 30 kilometers and 35 liters for the distance less than that, in addition to unifying the transactions of purchasing bags and limiting them all to the Al-Ankoud Roundabout Center.

According to a number of farmers in the Shahba region, the reality of the wheat crop is generally acceptable, and the harvesting process continues at an accelerated pace, and the produced quantities of wheat have been handed over to the Corporation.

Cultivation of wheat in As-Suwayda is spread in various regions of the governorate, and the majority of it is cultivated as rainfed.
