Due to aquaplaning, a BMW rolled over on the A95 near Eurasburg.
The driver, a 66-year-old from Munich, was injured in the accident.
Eurasburg - Suddenly heavy rain and aquaplaning were fatal for a 66-year-old from Munich on the A95 on Wednesday afternoon. According to the traffic police (VPI) Weilheim, the man was alone in the direction of Garmisch in a BMW Z4 at around 2.30 p.m. Shortly before the Seeshaupt exit, the car skidded to the right and crashed into the guardrail that began there. The BMW was catapulted into the air, then overturned several times, hitting a traffic sign, the base of an emergency telephone and again a guardrail. After about 50 meters the car stopped on the hard shoulder.
The Munich man could still get out independently. However, the ambulance service and an ambulance had to take him to hospital on suspicion of serious injuries. The requested rescue helicopter could not move because of an approaching thunderstorm. The BMW suffered an economic total loss of at least 15,000 euros.
The motorway was initially completely closed for 30 minutes.
The traffic was diverted and re-routed at the Seeshaupt junction.
There was therefore a short backlog at short notice.
Shortly after 4 p.m., the VPI was able to clear the entire lane again.
The fire brigades from Münsing and Beuerberg were on site with four vehicles and 22 emergency services for locking and securing work.
The Starnberg motorway maintenance authority was responsible for cordoning off measures with three vehicles and appropriate personnel.
