The future Bennett-Lapid government will be the third largest ever in Israel, the longest in length since the establishment of the state and the relative size of the future prime minister's faction will be the lowest ever - according to data collected by the Israel Democracy Institute ahead of the change government on Sunday.

The new government will include 28 ministers and another six deputy ministers, and a total of 34 officials who will benefit from a minister's salary and expensive bureaus.

This is less than the previous government of Benjamin Netanyahu and Bnei Gantz, which was launched with 35 ministers and eight deputies, but much more than the mythical election promise of a chairman. There is a future for Lapid for a small government of only 18 ministers. , But Netanyahu himself took care to repeal it about two years ago and spared him and Bennett the embarrassment of amending the legislation.

Assuming that the government is sworn in on a set date, the duration of its assembly will be 80 days - Monday in length only for the 7th government headed by Ben-Gurion, which was formed in 1955.

According to the institute, the process of forming a government has been on a steady upward trend in the last two decades, and it is possible that the explanation for this lies in the constructive distrust that has been adopted, which makes it very difficult to overthrow a government.

Another unusual figure in the case of the future government is the relative size of the prime ministerial faction designated within the coalition, which will be the lowest ever, and will stand at only 10% - six representatives out of 61 who will form the coalition.

The data collected by the institute also show that in terms of the number of ministers of the future government, it was largely preceded by only the second Netanyahu government from 2009, which numbered 30 ministers when it was formed, and the replacement government in 2020, which set out with 34 ministers.

Prof. Ofer Koenig, a research fellow at the Israel Democracy Institute who analyzed the data, noted that it was "disappointing to see that the" change government "did not announce a change in terms of the large number of ministers and the number of unnecessary ministries."

Prof. Koenig clarified that the government would include a record number of nine women, almost a third of all government members.

However, none of the ministries has been appointed to one of the prestigious ministries: finance, security, foreign affairs, and the proportion of women in Israeli governments is still low compared to most OECD countries.

In addition, the government will include six ministers wearing kippahs, a Muslim minister - the second only in history, six of whom will be foreign-born, including three ministers from the Soviet Union and a minister from Ethiopia.

The average age of government members will be 52.8, with Nachman (Labor) Shai if indeed appointed being the oldest, and Meirav Cohen (Yesh Atid) the youngest.

In terms of previous background, only half of the government members will have previous ministerial experience.

Five of the forthcoming members of the government will have a security background and five have started in local government.
