The Kirchdorf town hall is to be made barrier-free as soon as possible.

That is why the local council has now spoken out in favor of three foldable platform lifts.

Kirchdorf

- There is currently nothing barrier-free on and in the Kirchdorf town hall: a staircase to the front door, then an internal staircase and, last but not least, a separate staircase to the meeting and wedding room.

A solution is now to be found quickly to enable wheelchair users to access the town hall, for example.

Three options for designing the town hall barrier-free were discussed in the Kirchdorf municipal council on Tuesday. Either a lift like the one installed by the Rudelzhausen town hall, a stair lift with an integrated seat or a platform lift. Theoretically, all three variants would have been possible at the same time, since there are three separate stairs.

The majority of the councils came to an agreement relatively quickly: it doesn't necessarily have to be a classic elevator. Because that would cost around 80,000 euros - although it remained unclear how high the maintenance costs would be. Regina Elzenbeck (CSU / FW) spoke out in favor of such a cassette shaft elevator made of glass and steel. Their argumentation: people with walking difficulties would find it easier with it than with a stair or platform lift. In addition, according to Elzenbeck, it would be an investment for at least the next 20 years, which would also go better with a town hall from a purely visual perspective. Claudia Reinmoser (FWG) also preferred a closed elevator, because she knows from experience in her personal environmentthat, for example, people with a rollator in freer lift forms can be afraid - for example because of the height. Thomas Steininger (CSU / FW) does not believe, however, that a stair or platform lift can "drive up" as quickly as a carousel.

In addition, as noted by many councilors, the price difference is enormous: the stair or platform lifts would be around 50,000 euros cheaper. Martin Heyne (Greens) also pointed out that a classic elevator would mean an intervention in the structure that could not yet be overlooked. In his opinion, a simpler lift is sufficient for the requirements.

Like Gerlsbeck, the Greens parliamentary group discussed with the disability officer of the district Konrad Weinzierl. Conclusion: A simple lift would be sufficient. But what about when several disabled people want to take part in a wedding on the upper floor of the town hall? Albert Steinberger (CSU / FW) got to the bottom of this question: In his opinion, it would make sense to switch to another, ground-level location. However, Reinmoser did not want to follow this unconventional proposed solution, because there was a legal mandate for the accessibility of the town hall.

Finally, Andreas Schmitz (FWG) found a clear favorite, who had dealt with the issue of accessibility over a long period of time in advance: For him, a consistent system of platform lifts makes the most sense - so a total of three of them. Everything is possible in terms of color: "Nothing is impossible!"

The council agreed: There will be three so-called foldable platform lifts - one outside and two inside lifts, with which wheelchair users can reach the higher floors without having to change to a seat, as well as people with walking difficulties who can then fold out a seat.

City hall chief Uwe Gerlsbeck was also satisfied, because the example of the Rudelzhausen city hall elevator can also be seen: “It's not particularly cool!” The platform lift project, which will be implemented this year, was launched with 11: 4 votes should.
