A small group of activists built two tree houses in Forst Kasten and occupied them.
They are protesting against the planned clearing of around 9.5 hectares of forest to remove gravel.
Police officers have been watching the peaceful but unauthorized action since Tuesday night.

On Wednesday afternoon, the responsible district office in Munich prohibited participants from climbing trees and attaching structural devices to trees.
In addition, the meeting place is to be relocated 100 meters to “a more suitable location”.
According to the district office, the police handed the decision to the activists.
The extent to which the police will intervene if the implementation is refused was not known at the time of going to press.

The two tree houses were built by the forest dwellers on Tuesday from wooden pallets about seven meters above the ground, only one was finished, then the police stepped in.
Since then, four climate protectors have occupied the house at a lofty height.
"The police wanted us to come down, but we refused," explains Ingo Blechschmidt (32), one of the tree occupiers.
Blechschmidt spent the night there with three colleagues.
"We are peaceful against clearing the forest," said the math lecturer from Augsburg.
Climate protectors want to stay at least until the planned clearing of the forest in one to two years.
They hope that more and more like-minded people will join in and that a tree house village like the one in the Hambach Forest will emerge.

The citizens' initiative “Preserving Neuried Forest” was also there.
"When we got the message about the action," said Malwina Andrassy from the citizens' initiative, "we immediately informed Daniela Ewers from the Green City Council so that a parliamentary observer could be there to mediate."
As a citizens' initiative that has been fighting against gravel mining in the forest of Kasten for months, they are clearly behind the forest occupiers and also support them, says Andrassy.
However, they will not actively participate in the tree house campaign.
Andrassy: "We were hoping that the vigil in the forest would be enough."

Around 100 citizens and supporters also gathered on Tuesday afternoon.
