The “ShiftWerk” museum in Gilching has reopened.

Visitors still have to follow a few rules, but at least the culture has returned.

Gilching

- The "ShiftWerk" museum in Gilching is finally opening again - after more than a year of forced Corona break, the makers of the Gilching Time Travel Association will receive the first visitors in the Wersonhaus (Brucker Straße 11) on Sunday, June 13th.

From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., guests can visit the permanent exhibition on Romans and Bavarians as well as the special exhibition.

This has the theme "Air War in the summer of 1944: Gilching scene" and has now been extended to March of next year.

In two rooms, visitors can find out from contemporary witnesses, among other things, what it was like in Gilching during the Second World War and how the crash of an American bomber on the Mount of Olives happened.

Corona rules apply despite the opening of "ShiftWerk" in Gilching

Anyone wishing to visit the “ShiftWerk” must wear an FFP2 mask and keep a distance of 1.50 meters from the next person.

As a result, only four people are allowed into the museum at a time.

Children under the age of 14 are not counted.

Visitors should pay attention to the notices on the front door of the Wersonhaus or ring the bell under “ShiftWerk” - “The Zeitreise Gilching team will be happy to pick you up,” says chairwoman Annette Reindel.

However, no guided tours are currently possible.

However, it is not necessary to book an appointment in advance or to collect contact information.

"More work than we could imagine during the lockdown"

The lockdown made the club relatively good, Reindel told Starnberger Merkur.

Networking via the Internet worked, and the time travel even had its own YouTube channel.

"During the lockdown we had more work than we could imagine," stressed the chairwoman.

This included, among other things, the revision of the Via Zeitreise hiking trails (“that seems endless to me”) and the initiation of new projects.

For example, the association is working on a far-reaching scientific study of the kiltis, the bones that were found in 2012 during construction work on Römerstrasse.

“Shift Plant” in Gilching: Corona ends splendid success story

As confident as Reindel is about the future, the first lockdown in March last year was a shame.

It ended a success story from now on.

Because in the first three months of 2020 the “ShiftWerk” counted 500 museum visitors - 700 is normal in a whole year, says Reindel.

The great popularity was primarily due to the special exhibition on the air war, she says.

The museum in the Wersonhaus is now open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and every second Sunday of the month from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission is free, donations are welcome.
