The Whitsun holidays are just over, so Jasper Knöchel (12) was allowed to pack the suitcase again and, instead of returning to the classroom, first drive to Gera and Erfurt for another five days.

To watch one film after the other there.

The Pullach pupil was accepted into the jury at the “Goldene Spatz”, the largest festival for German-language children's media.

Pullach

- Year after year, around 1,000 people of the same age would like to do what Jasper is doing at the moment.

Sitting in front of a screen, judging what you've seen afterwards.

Only 28 boys and girls were taken in the end this year.

They are between ten and 13 years old, they come from different German-speaking countries, or at least they can speak German.

Jasper is the only representative from Bavaria.

At home the rule applies: first the book, then the film

“I'm already excited,” he said before the holidays - when you talked to him in the basement of the Pullach community center because you weren't allowed to sit anywhere else. He was crouching on one of the tables in the cloakroom and swinging his legs. “From an early age,” he said, he was interested in films. But it was never at home that he was allowed to watch what he wanted, on the contrary: “We have the rule that you have to read the book before you can watch the film.” Michel von Lönneberga, Ferien to Saltkrokan, Krabat and Harry Potter: has he seen everything one by one, has liked everything very much.

His uncle is a committed hobby filmmaker, for whom Jasper, who is wearing a knitted hat from Marvel, the American production company, was already in front of the camera that day.

He also once belonged to a theater group.

He says he could well imagine becoming an actor, but it is not that easy to assert oneself in Hollywood, for example.

But it is actually enough, he thinks, to become known in Germany.

First of all, he has to go to school for a while anyway - he is in the sixth grade in the Pater Rupert Mayer secondary school.

33 productions in five different categories

Of course, he was looking forward to watching films at the media festival. 33 productions in five different categories will be presented to the jury. They include feature films as well as short films, as well as series, documentaries and television programs. On average, they say to him, he and the other jurors have to judge five to six things a day. Jasper hops off the table and says: "We won't have square eyes in the evening anyway."
