At the end of June 2019, the rapper was sent for a month behind bars to Kronoberg prison after having beaten up with a bottle then thrown to the ground and trampled a nineteen-year-old stranger in the streets of Stockholm.
The case had sparked a wave of indignation in the United States, especially in Harlem, where he is from.
The case even became political, at the highest level, when Donald Trump then at the White House saw fit to telephone Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven to ask him to intervene in the prosecutor's investigation.
Interviews with Kim Kardashian and Naomi Campbell
The trial in Stockholm on July 30, 2019 was followed by dozens of journalists including special envoys for American television.
The influx of reporters was such that the trial had to be moved to a secure courtroom where the defendants are protected by a glass pane.
