BRUSSELS - An EU law and a "Paris Agreement" on biodiversity are needed to ensure restoration, resilience and adequate protection of ecosystems by 2050. The European Parliament has approved the resolution on the
"EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 - Bringing nature back into our lives ",
which deals with the current crisis of biodiversity in Europe and in the world, with 515 votes in favor, 90 against and 86 abstentions. Nature is declining on a global scale at an unprecedented rate. Of the approximately 8 million existing species, one million are at risk of extinction (Ipbes). Therefore, MEPs welcome the ambition of the EU biodiversity strategy to restore,make ecosystems resilient and adequately protect by 2050.
