Students and teachers have to wear a mask in Bavaria - but the corona numbers are falling.
Will there be any easing soon?
Munich - In classes in Bavaria's schools, a mask is compulsory * - this is sometimes a burden for students and teachers.
With a view to the falling corona numbers in the Free State, Minister of Culture Michael Piazolo (Free Voters) is now promising easing.
Corona in Bavaria: will the mask requirement in schools soon be relaxed?
Piazolo gives the students hope that the mask requirement will soon be relaxed, as he
told
Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR)
on request. Saxony had previously announced that it would lift the mask requirement in schools from next Monday if the incidence * is below 35. According to the Robert Koch Institute, the incidence in Bavaria is currently 24. Only in eleven Bavarian cities and districts is the incidence above 35, as the
BR
reports.
As Piazolo explained, the Free State has a very good security concept.
The politician referred to tests, ventilation concepts and the current mask requirement.
His goal, however, is that incidence-dependent relaxation of the mask requirement will soon be implemented in Bavaria.
According to Piazolo, the Ministry of Culture is currently working on appropriate proposals and will discuss them with the Ministry of Health.
Corona in Bavaria: FDP is pushing for the mask requirement in schools to be relaxed
For some time now, the FDP in the state parliament has been pushing for the mask requirement to be lifted, at least in the schoolyard. Specifically, the demand relates to the external care of after-school care centers, curative educational day-care centers, lunchtime care and all-day schooling, as the
BR
reports on. The parliamentary group also calls for the general requirement to wear masks in school sports to be suspended. According to the Ministry of Culture, physical education can already take place without a mask - but only "if the minimum distance requirement is observed".
In an urgency request, the FDP points out that all children are tested for Corona several times a week.
Nevertheless, the mask requirement for everyone from the fifth grade onwards was tightened last Monday, as the
BR
reported.
You would now have to wear a medical mask.
Söder cautious about masks - "I am not an unconditional advocate of masks"
Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder * expressed himself reluctantly in an interview on the question of whether and when masks will disappear from our everyday lives.
"How and in what form the mask requirement is continued depends on the pandemic development," said the CSU head of the
Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
The mask also prevented the spread of other infectious diseases, he said, but made it clear: “I'm not an unconditional mask advocate.”
