City council members of Poing are critical of the planned production of lithium-ion cells in the new Parsdorf business park.
They fear negative effects.
Poing - Even if, according to the immission test and environmental report for the new industrial area between Grub and Parsdorf (on the corridor of the neighboring community of Vaterstetten) it is assumed that “based on the current state of knowledge, the project will not have any harmful effects on the environment, in particular on human health are expected ”, members of the Poing municipal council are extremely critical of the project.
Specifically, it is about the production of battery prototypes (lithium-ion cells) planned by BMW for the automotive industry.
According to the environmental report, it is planned to build chimneys with a height of 22.6 meters to discharge the resulting exhaust gases.
For comparison: Poing's new parish church and the hose tower of the volunteer fire brigade are each 30 meters high.
I have a queasy feeling.
Poings 3rd Mayor Werner Dankesreiter (Bündnis90 / Die Grünen)
“Personally, I don't have a good feeling about it all,” said Herbert Lanzl (CSU) at the meeting of the building and environment committee of the local council.
3. Mayor Werner Dankesreiter (Greens): “I have a queasy feeling.
What if there is a fire or an accident?
Then we have the cloud here. ”Because the nearby settlement area (especially Angelbrechting and Poing-Süd) lies in the main wind direction west.
Dankesreiter and Peter Maier (SPD) criticized the fact that the battery production facility is too close to a metropolitan area, it should actually be located in a purely industrial area and have nothing to do with a commercial area.
I feel ripped off by the salami tactic.
Daniel Becker (Bündnis90 / The Greens)
Mayor Thomas Stark (independent) recalled that in the original plans for the new Parsdorf business park, there was talk of research into ion lithium cells.
Only later was it added that batteries were also produced there.
Daniel Becker (Greens) commented on this fact with the words: "I feel ripped off by the salami tactics."
Several members of the Poingen building committee expressed their incomprehension that the authorities did not have any major concerns or requirements against the project.
The municipality of Poing itself has concerns, this has now been recorded in a resolution as part of the participation process.
However, the municipality of Poing cannot provide a professional assessment - in this context it refers to the relevant authorities.
