British police in charge of securing the Group of Seven summit scheduled to be held in southwest Britain today evacuated a hotel in (Falmouth) after receiving a report of an explosive device.
"There have been reports of a suspicious package inside the hotel and it is believed that this was a false warning and we have opened a criminal investigation to follow up," Reuters quoted a police source as saying.
Police closed roads and coastal paths leading to Carbis Bay and the small seaside resort hosting the summit, and imposed tight security at the site.
US President Joe Biden, who arrived in Britain yesterday evening, is staying at a seaside resort in Carbis Bay, about 25 miles from Falmouth, where most of the media teams covering the summit are based.
The authorities tightened security measures around the headquarters of the Group of Seven summit, the first meeting with the actual attendance of the leaders of the major industrialized countries in nearly two years.
