A series of fires broke out in a number of towns in Akkar, northern Lebanon today, devouring thousands of acres of land planted with wheat fields and fruit trees.
The National News Agency reported that the fires broke out in the town of Mashta Hammoud, in the city of Halba, in the outskirts of the town of Shadra and in the outskirts of the town of Qubayyat. A fire also broke out in the Rihaniya locality in the outskirts of the town of Benin in the Akkar district, noting that the fires devoured wheat fields and orchards of fruitful trees in the mentioned towns.
Civil Defense elements worked to cordon off, control and extinguish the fire to prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the neighboring lands.
