National security education is gradually infiltrating college courses.
Chen Huici, the new principal of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, said at a media tea gathering today (10th) that National Security Education in the new school year will be integrated into the required general education courses for the whole school, but will not be split into a separate course.
She said that she did not want to "enlarge" the national security law. She believed that the national security law is the same as other laws, and students also need to understand the new law, which is logical as a civic education.

Chen Huici, the new principal of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, officially took office in January this year. When she attended the media tea party, she said that the new school year will integrate national security education into the school's compulsory general education curriculum, but will not split it into a separate subject.
She said that she did not want to "enlarge" the national security law. The national security law is a law. Like other laws, students need to understand the new law, which is logical as a civic education.
She pointed out that in the past, students will also learn legal knowledge related to undergraduates, such as the "Mental Health Ordinance", "Common Law", "Basic Law", etc.; there are also legal seminars.
Faculty members do not need to formulate guidelines for national security law teaching and research
After the implementation of the National Security Law, some scholars worried that teaching and research would violate the "red line". When asked whether they would provide teaching and research guidelines for school staff, she pointed out that all staff abide by the law and will not set relevant guidelines.
It is expected to apply for upgrading to a private university within five years
Tung Wah College has been preparing to upgrade to a private university. She pointed out that the college’s student numbers, financial and governance capabilities are all up to the standards, but the teaching and scientific research performance needs to be improved. The 2022/23 academic year will launch medical management and medical information courses, and plans for the future Established master's and doctoral programs for several years.
One of the prerequisites for upgrading to a private university is that the institution obtains at least three disciplines in the scope of assessment qualifications. Donghua College was the first to obtain the qualification for occupational therapy in the scope of assessment last year.
She expects to apply for four more disciplines for accreditation, science, early childhood education and applied psychology, and hopes to formally apply to the government to become a private university within five years.
She continued that Donghua focuses on offering medical and nursing courses with a clear positioning and will not compare the pace of upgrading with other colleges and universities.
