Palestinian Ahmed Jibril Faris Jibril announced today a hunger strike in front of the office of the United Nations Children’s Fund “UNICEF” in the Mezzeh area of Damascus, in protest against the continued American and Turkish occupation of Syrian lands and their theft of natural resources.
In a statement to SANA reporter, Jibril explained that his hunger strike in front of the UNICEF office for several days came as a rejection of the continued US and Turkish occupation of the Syrian lands and a protest against the theft of natural resources, pointing out that Syria had suffered for ten years from grave Western violations against the Syrian sovereignty and a sinful aggression on its lands aimed at Nile of the steadfastness of the Syrian people.
He added that the aim of the hunger strike is a cry in the face of the world and the international community in order to condemn these violations and work to stop the Turkification policy pursued by the Turkish regime in the areas it occupies, denouncing Turkey's halting of pumping water to Syrian lands.
Jibril pointed out that it is the duty of the civil society in Syria to organize this kind of protests and create societal pressure to stop the American, Turkish and Israeli violations.
