A sign and a parking space must be enough for the motorhomes

Because the ideal solution, namely a mobile home parking space in the parking lot at the indoor swimming pool / family pool, cannot be financially feasible in the near future, the city council has been looking for a cheap interim solution for months. Because the ideal solution, namely a mobile home parking space in the parking lot at the indoor swimming pool / family pool, cannot be financially feasible in the near future, the city council has been looking for a cheap interim solution for months.

After all, it is now clear where the motorhomes should not park.

Dachau - Tourism advisor Sabine Geißler (Alliance for Dachau) is convinced that a city like Dachau urgently needs a motorhome parking space in its leisure activities. Motorhome holidaymakers offer considerable tourist potential, and this type of travel is also very much in vogue. She has therefore persistently followed the topic for months, providing location suggestions and soliciting support from her city council colleagues.

After several fruitless meetings in which the topic had come up on the table, the time had come again on Tuesday afternoon in the City Council's building and planning committee.

This time the proposal was put to the vote to set up a temporary motorhome parking space in the parking lot at the old indoor swimming pool.

Temporary because the city council agreed last year to set up an area for mobile homes in the parking lot of the family pool / indoor pool on the southern Ludwig-Dill-Straße.

However, since this project is likely to cost an estimated one million euros, it has been postponed indefinitely in view of the tight budget situation.

No interim solutions desired

Unfortunately, it turned out on Tuesday that the interim solution on the old indoor pool car park is not possible: The municipal utilities need the space for their family pool and - in the distant future - future indoor pool guests. These parking spaces, which are stipulated by the city's parking space statute, now simply to be painted with the approval of city committees, would also not look good on the outside: In order to do justice to its role model function, the city should, according to the administration, “already comply with its own rules”!

But Geissler did not give up: Dachau had to offer its guests “something and exploit its potential”, which is why they suggested the Thomawiese as a “cheap interim solution”.

Although this suggestion is not new, this location was eliminated months ago because the Thomawiese is reserved for the folk festival in the weeks around the folk festival - actually the main travel season.

Heike Drexler (SPD) therefore rejected her colleague: Yes, the city needs a motorhome parking space.

“But one that works”.

Because the temporary Thomawiese also causes costs - disposal station, fences, connections alone would cost 100,000 euros - and in return would offer little profit.

"We had already ruled that out because it just wasn't economical."

August Haas from the CSU then stated: “Surprisingly, I want to agree with Ms. Drexler.

Just that you know! "

City should now look for parking space

Kai Kühnel (Alliance for Dachau) finally got the derailed discussion back on track.

The motorhome parking lot on the MD site, “as ugly as it was, with this noise on the train, was always occupied.

Even in the cold season ”!

Why, asked Kühnel, so don't you take “any sign and put it in any parking lot?

We don't need to do anything else! "

Kühnel's colleagues were delighted. The latest decision in terms of motorhome parking was therefore that the city is now looking for a suitable area. Lord Mayor Florian Hartmann took note of this surprisingly inexpensive phrase: “Yes, well, if you want it that way. So far we have assumed something else ”.
