Jeffrey Toobin, 61, had shown off during a break during a videoconference thinking
"we could not"
see him, he explained Thursday, apologizing for his gesture
"deeply silly and indefensible "
.
Lawyer and columnist, author of several political books and regular consultant on CNN, he was suspended by the
New Yorker
in October 2020 and disappeared from the screens of the cable news channel.
Jeffrey Toobin said he
"tried to be a better person"
during the
"bad months" he
spent off the air.
In particular, he received
"therapy"
and volunteered at a food bank.
"Personal problems"
He was fired by the magazine in November, but CNN had simply dismissed him so that he could deal with
"his personal problems"
.
Jeffrey Toobin is expected to resume his post as a regular consultant soon, a spokesperson for the channel said on CNN's website.
This incident was one of the many hazards experienced during videoconferences that have become the rule since the start of the pandemic.
At the end of May, a Canadian MP was filmed urinating into a cup during a virtual parliamentary session, a month after appearing naked during another session.
And in September 2020, an Argentinian parliamentarian was suspended after being caught kissing his partner's breasts while participating in a virtual session.
