Cuba rejected Thursday, June 10 the "
falsehood and interference
" of a resolution approved by the European Parliament which condemns "
the existence of political prisoners
" and criticizes the dialogue agreement between the island and the European Union.

We reiterate our energetic rejection of this scrap of paper promoted by the most extremist representatives of the Spanish political parties Popular Party and Vox, which have no moral authority to judge Cuba,
" says the Committee on International Relations of the National Assembly , in a statement posted on its site.

Once again, the European Parliament plays the sad role of hostage to a small group of far-right MEPs obsessed with the idea of destroying the Cuban Revolution and with proven links to organizations based in Miami and funded by the US government

removes credibility from this institution and reflects the double morality towards the Cuban nation

a resolution like this, with its double standards, does not prevent us from sleeping at night

"Permanent political persecution"
In the document, approved Thursday with 386 votes in favor (236 against and 59 abstentions), MEPs condemn "
the existence of political prisoners, the persistent and permanent political persecution, the actions of harassment and the arbitrary detentions of dissidents
" in Cuba. The resolution also calls on the Cuban authorities to “
immediately release
” those linked to the protest group Mouvement San Isidro (MSI), arrested on April 30.
It also regrets that, "
despite the entry into force of the Agreement on Political Dialogue and Cooperation almost four years ago, the situation in terms of human rights and democracy has not improved.
