As of today, the digital Corona vaccination pass is available via app on the mobile phone, with which one should be able to identify oneself as a vaccinated person throughout Europe.

Unfortunately, the Bavarian QR code does not work for this.

Munich - "The digital vaccination certificate will now be rolled out step by step and available in the apps," said a spokesman for the Federal Ministry of Health yesterday. So far so good. Today, Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn reaffirmed the plan: The CovPass app will soon be available in all app stores, can be downloaded for free and then all you have to do is digitize your analog vaccination certificate by scanning the QR code, he explained at the federal press conference together with the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). * The German Corona * app has supposedly been doing this since yesterday. In Bavaria, everyone vaccinated in a vaccination center already has a QR code. But be careful: This doesn't work at all, as a short self-experiment shows.

But first things first: The CovPass app is not yet available in the Apple store as of Thursday, 1 p.m.

The German Corona warning app has already received the same feature with an update.

And indeed, a new option appears under the familiar home screen

Not every QR code works

With a nudge on "Add" you get to the next view.

"To add a vaccination certificate to the app, scan the QR code that you received with the vaccination."

"Nothing easier than that," is what millions of Bavarians who have already been vaccinated are currently thinking.

Because anyone who had been vaccinated in a vaccination center received a printout with a personal QR code on it when they said goodbye.

So it is without a doubt the QR code that you received when you were vaccinated.

"It's great that they have already thought so far", one or the other optimist will think at this point - only to experience a bitter disappointment.

The Corona warning app cannot do anything with the Bavarian QR codes from the vaccination centers.

Digital vaccination pass in Bavaria: Two alternatives to the QR code on the vaccination certificate

There remain two options.

First: wait for the other app.

The CovPass app may be able to read the QR code.

According to the Bavarian Ministry of Health, at least it should be able to do so.

At least that was a statement made to the

Münchner Merkur *

on Wednesday.

The ministry has not yet responded to another request on Thursday.

Second: generate a new QR code.

To do this, take your printout or your vaccination certificate, search for a participating pharmacy on mein-apothekenmanager.de from next Monday, go there and have a new QR code printed out by presenting your vaccination certificate and identity card.

This in turn can then be scanned digitally with the smartphone.

Finding a participating pharmacy shouldn't be too difficult.

According to the ministry, pharmacies receive 18 euros per QR code from the public health system.

A similar lucrative additional income as the issue of the corona masks at the time.

Digital vaccination certificate: Spahn urges you to be patient

Nevertheless, Spahn urges patience: “It starts now, step by step vaccination centers and medical practices are being connected.

It will not be possible for everyone to be there right away. ”The aim is for the CovPass to be available to everyone at the end of June.
