Queen Elizabeth II wants to remember the deceased in her own way.

London - Prince Philip is said not to have been a big fan of birthday festivities during his lifetime.

“Birthdays weren't exactly his thing.

He didn't like all the fuss and clutter, ”recalls his youngest son, Prince Edward, in a

BBC

interview.

Queen Elizabeth's recently deceased husband would have turned 100 on Thursday.

He almost lived to see his anniversary.

Only a few months ago, in April 2021, Prince Philip died with his family.

"He wasn't really looking forward to the centenary even though we did," Edward told the BBC.

The family would have liked to have the Duke of Edinburgh with them and at least celebrate him in a small circle. Now, however, they are trying to remember and celebrate Philips' long life instead.

Queen Elizabeth II also wants to send her deceased husband a special sign in this sense and honor his 100th birthday with a small gesture.

She had a rose named after him planted at Windsor Castle on Thursday, the “Duke of Edinburgh” rose.

It has bright pink petals, criss-crossed with white lines.

The pretty flower should not only be planted, but also sold.

According to the British news agency PA, a few pounds will be donated at a time.

They go to an organization set up by Prince Philip to help disadvantaged children.

"She looks beautiful" is said to have said Queen Elizabeth at the handover at the property.
