The vehicle fleet of the Freising District Office is increasingly being converted to e-mobility.
Because in this respect the district authority wants to be a role model.
Freising
- For District Administrator Helmut Petz, "a heartfelt wish" has come true: The gradual conversion of the District Office's fleet to e-mobility is making great strides.
With three new BMW i3 series and two e-bikes, Petz also wants to convey a message to the citizenry: the district authority is moving ahead.
Important building block for climate neutrality
It took a while before the brand new electric vehicles could finally be purchased, Petz admitted.
Wall charging stations had to be installed and funding measures clarified.
"We have paid our tuition, it will be easier with the next vehicles," said Petz.
The switch to e-mobility in particular is an important building block in order to achieve the climate neutrality targeted in Freising by 2035.
One of the most urgent tasks of this time, according to the district administrator, is climate protection - the district is very active here and is also sending a clear signal with the conversion of the vehicle fleet.
His motto: The district office must be a role model.
The aim is, of course, to “fill the tank with sunshine” - however, the district office's electric vehicles are currently still running on green electricity.
Solution for individual driving
Of course, the energy officer Moritz Strey would also prefer it if solar energy could be tapped directly from the roofs of the district office for this purpose, but that fails because of the ensemble protection of the buildings.
Nevertheless, Strey also emphasizes: "There is no getting around e-mobility!"
According to Strey, the switch from internal combustion engines to e-mobiles is primarily a solution for individual driving.
In contrast to internal combustion engines, only a fifth of the energy is consumed with such vehicles; overall, only around 20 percent more electricity is required.
In his opinion, the district office has found a “good driver” in the climate protection issue with Petz.
Create incentives for employees
Petz himself also wants to create incentives for his employees: It is planned that they will be able to charge their electric vehicles for free on site during working hours.
In October, according to Petz, a “cash drop” will be carried out at the Freising climate summit on the goals and other measures that have been achieved - as an inventory and a roadmap for the future.
At the end of the presentation, Petz himself got into the new BMW and purred away.
He himself, he had previously revealed, used the same model privately and was extremely satisfied.
Only on the autobahn would it be a bit “bouncy”.
