- At the beginning of the meeting, the outgoing commander Olli Mathis could look back on twelve eventful years, including the festivities for the 140th anniversary of the fire service and the takeover of the new emergency vehicle, the LF 20.

"It was not easy for the fire brigade, since the corona pandemic had also had a massive impact on the work of the emergency services since the middle of March last year," said Mayor Markus Trinkl in his brief greeting.

“A huge effort for everyone, thank you very much to the fire brigade!

The corona pandemic also had an impact on the number of deployments: instead of 149 deployments in 2018, the fire brigade had to deploy 108 deployments last year.

Despite the corona-related restrictions and the associated lower volume of traffic, two thirds of all deployments were so-called technical assistance on the motorway, usually more or less serious traffic accidents.

One of the worst accidents of the past happened at the end of June on the state road between Odelzhausen and Pfaffenhofen when two cars collided head-on.

The two vehicle occupants were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Odelzhausen fire brigade currently has more than 120 members, including 51 active members.

Some of them also have their place of work in Odelzhausen, so that the fire brigade can usually be well manned during the day.

The youngsters are also in the starting blocks: youth warden Tim Scholler and Tobi Feneberg are currently looking after six boys and seven girls, who will hopefully stay connected to the fire brigade after their training.
