Malaysia: calls for the release of Rémy Daillet's partner and three children

A group of French and Malaysians appealed to the Malaysian authorities for the release of the companion of Rémy Daillet - suspected of having contributed to the kidnapping of a girl in April - and her children. Rémy Daillet, figure of a conspiracy movement and under an international arrest warrant, was arrested at the end of May on the island of Langkawi, with his partner Léonie Bardet, pregnant, and her three children aged 17, 9 and 2 years. They were then transferred to the Belantik center run by immigration authorities in northwest Malaysia, an official Malaysian source said on Thursday (June 10th). This center welcomes hundreds of irregular migrants in this Southeast Asian country where the Covid-19 epidemic is growing.

Friends of the couple have launched a petition to Malaysian authorities

, protested Amor Adjal, one of the French in Malaysia at the origin of the petition. This group also sent requests to the French authorities, in particular the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Presidency, asking them to act to get them out of detention.

The French Embassy in Malaysia declined to comment on this matter.

Rémy Daillet and his family were arrested at the end of May for illegal stay. The Frenchman, who continues on a hunger strike, can now either be deported to France by the Malaysian authorities for illegal stay in their country, or extradited if the authorities retain the international arrest warrant. In a video posted online after the kidnapping of a little girl, little Mia, Rémy Daillet had tried to defend himself. Without mentioning Mia by name, he refuted the term kidnapping. In other older videos he defended the idea of ​​a popular coup and said he was opposed to taxes, vaccines, masks or 5G. In the context of the Mia affair, six men and the girl's mother, close to the anti-system movement and conspirators,were indicted and remanded in custody.
