MK Nir Barkat, number seven on the Likud list, is holding a large support conference tonight (Thursday) at the Tel Aviv Exhibition Center, with the participation of thousands of Likud activists, MKs and mayors and councils.
In his opening remarks, Barkat said that "this is not the time for primaries," against the background of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plans to hold Bezeq primaries for the Likud leadership with the transition to the opposition.
Most senior Likud members other than Netanyahu oppose holding primaries at this time.
The conference provoked opposition and anger in the Prime Minister's Office, and many senior Likud members close to and loyal to Netanyahu chose to be absent, but the event was attended by representatives of the Likud faction: Center chairman Haim Katz, faction chairman Miki Zohar, MKs Uzi Dayan, Avi Dichter, Etty Atia, Gadi Yabarkan and Shlomo Kari.

During the conference, a video from the past was shown in which Netanyahu was seen praising Barkat in the background of presenting an economic plan he presented in one of the previous election campaigns.
"This is the biggest Likud event in a long time. This is a difficult time for all of us, the paralysis government that will be sworn in on Sunday worries me. This is a government that was formed with sin that prevents hatred, has no vision or way.

"Only a large and united Likud can lead the national camp. Only the Likud can continue to bring significant achievements as brought by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government. This is neither the time for internal disputes nor the time for unnecessary primaries. We must unite and act together."
