Today, the northern hemisphere witnessed a partial eclipse of the sun, which was witnessed by residents over a strip of hundreds of kilometers from Canada to Siberia, passing through Europe.
According to the French press agency, at the height of this annular eclipse, observers were able to see the moon slowly passing in front of the sun, turning it within a short period into a thin luminous ring like a fiery circle.
She pointed out that the residents of northwest Canada, the far north of Russia, northwest of Greenland and the North Pole were able to clearly follow the eclipse, as the occultation rate was about 88 percent, while this phenomenon, which lasted for two hours, was partially visible over North America and a large part of Europe, including France and Britain, in addition to Part of North Asia.
This annular eclipse is the first for the year 2021 and the sixteenth in the twenty-first century, where this astronomical phenomenon occurs when the Earth, the moon and the sun become on a parallel line.
The total eclipse also occurs when the diameter of the moon becomes completely parallel to the diameter of the sun when seen from the earth, which plunges part of the earth into darkness for a short period. This phenomenon is rare and the world will witness it on the fourth of next December, but it will not be possible to see it except from certain places.
