According to figures from the China Education and Study Abroad Exchange Center, a total of 14,707 people have applied for further studies in the Mainland this year. Among them, 4,783 applicants for the Diploma Examination in Mainland universities have increased by 19.8% over last year.
The center estimates that the increase is related to factors such as the success of the mainland's fight against the epidemic and the confidence of Hong Kong youths in the country's economic and social development prospects.
This year, 4,783 HKDSE candidates applied for admissions for the HKDSE of Mainland universities, an increase of 19.8% over last year, accounting for approximately 9.17% of Hong Kong candidates.

The China Education Exchange Center for Education and Exchange pointed out that in addition to enrolling students through the Diploma Examination of Mainland universities, 2341 people have applied for the joint entrance examination of overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and 7583 have taught 6 independent universities such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Fudan University. .
According to the central data, candidates applied to universities in Shanghai, Guangdong Province, and Beijing. Among them, Shanghai had the highest increase in the number of applicants, which was 15.4% higher than last year.
The top three with the most people listed as the first choice are Jinan University, Sun Yat-sen University and Xiamen University. They mainly enroll in economics, management, finance, engineering, and medicine.

The center believes that today’s significant increase is due to the success of the mainland’s fight against the epidemic. The Hong Kong government has also launched a job plan for the Greater Bay Area to encourage young people to develop in the Greater Bay Area. The strength of mainland universities has also continued to increase and their appeal has become more and more attractive.
If the Diploma Examination can be released on July 21 as scheduled, admissions for the Diploma Examination of Mainland universities will start in early August.
