Where are the French soldiers exposed in the world?

In total, more than

30,000 soldiers

are part of the operational systems of the French armed forces.

Seven days a week, day and night, they ensure the protection of the population, territory, national interests and contribute to international security.

On the metropolitan territory,

13,000 soldiers

are on permanent alert, like the men of Operation Sentinel who have been patrolling since 2015 to face the terrorist threat.

At sea and in the air, buildings in the Maritime Safeguard Posture and aircraft in the Air Safeguard Posture are also able to act instantly on alert.

The forces of sovereignty

Other task forces are deployed across the planet.

First, overseas.

With more than 10 million km2 of water under sovereignty, France has the second exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the world.

It is the only European country to have a global network of support points.
