Abitur presents FOS / BOS with "huge effort" in organizational terms

The time has finally come for the final school students at FOS / BOS Weilheim: Yesterday they wrote the first examination for the technical high school diploma (12th grade) or the general Abitur (13th grade) in German. It was not easy for any of the 253, as headmaster Christian Dick said.

The time has finally come for the final school students at FOS / BOS Weilheim: Yesterday they wrote the first examination for the technical high school diploma (12th grade) or the general Abitur (13th grade) in German.

It was not easy for any of the 253, as headmaster Christian Dick said.

The students who are doing their Abitur this year had already experienced a lot last year.

From face-to-face lessons to distance lessons and on to alternate lessons - and this year it went on like that.

In addition, there was compulsory testing for on-site lessons.

But everything went well, as Dick said.

“We had no test refusals and only one positive case.

That is really very little. "

No quick tests required for high school exams

Students do not have to be tested for the Abitur exams. That was decided by the Ministry of Culture under Minister Michael Piazolo. The FOS / BOS Weilheim wanted to give their high school graduates the opportunity to test themselves voluntarily. "Seven students accepted the offer," said headmaster Dick. In return, they also get an advantage over their classmates: They write their exams in a separate room, which is close to the auditorium and thus also directly at the entrance. “This way you have short walking distances”, which means that the students meet fewer others and the risk of infection is minimized.

But not only the classroom for the tested and the sports hall are occupied by the examinees: "We have one hundred percent utilization - both in the rooms and in the teachers," explained Dick.

At least two teachers must sit as supervisors in each classroom, plus the supervisors in the corridors.

High school diploma admirable under these conditions

“It was a huge organizational effort for us.” Because not only the rooms and the staff had to be divided up. Walkways were defined on the floor so that the students meet as little as possible and everything runs according to the Corona rules. In addition, the 11th grade teachers are also needed to supervise the examinations and are therefore unable to teach. "Students are in asynchronous distance class during this time," said Dick. That means they get material that they have to work through independently.

For high school students, the Abitur is a challenge in Corona times.

“It's very demanding under these conditions.

You really have to admire and appreciate that, ”said Dick.

And how do the students see the current situation?

"I noticed in conversations that they are happy and happy to be able to do their Abitur," said the FOS / BOS manager.

Because the worst thing for the students was the uncertainty as to whether there will be any Abitur exams this year.

The handover of certificates should take place on July 23

Today, Friday, June 11th, the high school graduates will continue with the written exam in the respective training area - either business administration and accounting, pedagogy / psychology or biology or physics. The English exam will take place on Monday and maths on Tuesday. The oral exams will be held from July 12th to 13th.

Dick and his team of teachers have also given thought to the handing over of certificates on July 23rd.

The celebrations are to take place in three shifts in the Weilheim town hall.

“Our wish would be for around 200 people to be allowed inside by then.

Then the students could also bring a parent or relative ”, says the school principal.

In any case, it would be desirable for the high school graduates if their school years could find a dignified and solemn conclusion during the corona pandemic, because "they have achieved a lot".
