False craftsmen rob a senior citizen - police warn of brazen fraud 

A senior citizen was robbed by three false craftsmen in Nuremberg.

The police are now giving behavioral tips to prevent such scenarios.  

Nuremberg - Under the pretext of wanting to check a power line, three fake craftsmen got into an apartment in the Langwasser district of Nuremberg *.

The police are now warning of this fraud and advising only authorized craftsmen to open the door. 

According to a message from the Central Franconia Police Headquarters *, the strangers rang the doorbell around 3:30 p.m. at an 83-year-old senior citizen.

Under the pretext of wanting to check the power line, the perpetrators went into the elderly lady's apartment.

While two men distracted the woman, the third managed to steal the wallet and cash.

Then the three were able to flee unrecognized.

With this scam, perpetrators repeatedly succeed in depriving their victims of large sums of money. According to the Central Franconian police, certain behavioral tips should therefore be heeded. So you should only leave the apartment to craftsmen who you have ordered yourself. Do not be pressured and call the police if people obviously want to gain access under pretext.

A phone call helps further victims if you have turned the wrong craftsman away yourself.

Be sure to talk to relatives about the scam and about planned tradespeople appointments.

Agree with neighbors that no strangers are allowed into the stairwell.

Pay attention to old or needy neighbors and inform the police if suspicious people are on the way.
