For the second consecutive Friday, the Governorate of Damascus, in cooperation with the local community, NGOs and neighborhood committees, carried out a volunteer service day that included the rehabilitation and maintenance of sidewalks, roads, lighting devices, sidewalk painting, planting plants, garden cleaning, weeding, street sweeping, cleaning campaigns, and removal of wall advertising posters in a number of city squares and neighborhoods.

From the customs square, both volunteers, Hosni Jardo and Walaa Assi from the Syria Youth Imprint Foundation, in a statement to SANA, considered that every stone in the homeland is everyone’s responsibility, and that their work today and their colleagues is a great pride for them, calling on everyone who has the ability, especially the youth, to engage in any voluntary work because the homeland A home for everyone, and work must be done for it to be in its best and most beautiful form.

From the Bab Musalla roundabout, Ahmed Salima, from the neighborhood committees in the area, pointed out that the aesthetics of participating in voluntary work, especially in the cleaning campaign in the streets and parks, identifies people with the suffering of cleaners. An approved annual volunteer work day in which everyone from all regions participates.

Sheikh Nazih Al-Sous and Habib Knouzi, residents of Bab Touma neighborhood, stressed during their participation that volunteer work is a national work par excellence because it brings all the people together in one place and they work as one team, which contributes to community service and development.

The Governor of Damascus, Eng. Adel Al-Olabi, stated during a tour to follow up the progress of work in several areas that the governorate has upcoming strategic and investment projects that will contribute to generating revenues to improve services and beautify the city of Damascus, expressing his thanks and appreciation for the efforts of all participants in beautifying their city.

In turn, a member of the Executive Office in the governorate, Eng. Mazen Ghrawi, indicated that the aim of the work is to preserve the beauty of Damascus governorate as a miniature symbol of Syria, expressing his hope that this work will constitute an incentive for any party or individual to participate in it and to do similar work.

For his part, the General Supervisor of the Services Complex in the governorate, Eng. Imad Al-Ali, explained that the governorate will continue in the coming weeks with this voluntary work, which it launched last Friday, to reach the best result of the work, pointing out that the works dealt with axes that cannot be worked on during weekdays as a result of overcrowding.
