The Freising Youth City Council has planned some new projects - but new members are urgently needed to cope with larger campaigns.

Freising

- In a digital mammoth meeting lasting two hours, the Freising Youth City Council set out, among other things, new exciting projects with which the councils want to inspire other young people to get involved in politics.

Because it is above all a problem that the youth city council under the chairman Michael Weindl and Philomena Böhme presses badly: There is a lack of members.

“Multimedia transformer” is to be implemented soon

The street art project by graffiti artist Kai Hockenberger under the bridge near the Luitpoldhalle in Freising is said to have only been the beginning: The youth councilor per se wants to revive and rethink the art and culture of the cathedral city.

Graffiti as an expression of a contemporary art form, close to the pulse of life.

The youth city council would like to find and offer areas for this: for example at the staircase to the linden cellar.

Different artists could immortalize themselves here and try them out - similar to the John Lennon Wall in Prague.

For people who cannot afford colors, there might even be the possibility of “borrowing” them from the city youth welfare office.

Another project that has been planned for a long time is the “multimedia transformer”.

The transformer house across from the Dolomiti ice cream parlor on Veitsmüllerweg should, if the youth councilors have their way, soon become an interactive art project.

In other words: A screen could be attached to the transformer station with the option of showing music or video installations.

For this, however, responsibilities still need to be clarified.

Poetry slammer Philipp Potthast at the Speakers Corner

The biggest problem currently faced by committed young people: The number of members is kept within a manageable range. With more people, larger projects could of course also be tackled, says Weindl. Social channels such as Instagram offer one possibility for better visibility. The work of the young politicians will soon be better represented there through an increased presence. But the youth councilor also wants to show its face by participating in the Long Night of Democracy and the Speakers Corner in October, for example.

In this regard, a great success has been achieved: The councils were able to win the poetry slamer Philipp Potthast for the occasion.

At an upcoming closed-door conference, they also want to reformulate goals and projects - among other things, a possible high point, which, however, is not yet dry.

Because under certain circumstances, the youth city council will be given a room in the staff building of the former stone barracks for use for events.

District Administrator Helmut Petz would have liked the idea very much, emphasized the chairmen.

Weindl is certain that that would be a privilege for Freising.

He said, "That would leave a fingerprint for the next generation!"
