The Russian permanent representative to the European Union, Vladimir Chizhov, considered today that relations between Russia and the European Union are in an "abnormal state and tend to deteriorate further."
"Our relations are in an abnormal state and unfortunately tend to deteriorate," TASS news agency quoted Chizhov as saying today, adding: "We are ready to enter into a dialogue on a wide range of issues in many areas, but of course a balanced and respectful dialogue."
The envoy indicated that the resumption of the Russia-EU summits is possible, but it is clear that it will not happen in the near future.
It is noteworthy that Russia and the European Union have held a total of 32 summits since the 1997 Partnership and Cooperation Agreement entered into force, and the last summit was held in 2014 in Brussels.
