Some will be assigned to other services, which are understaffed, during the month of June. They were on strike this Friday

"We are not trained in palliative care, we are not trained to inject chemo, we risk our diploma," slip three young emergency nurses from the Avicenne hospital in Bobigny.

By discovering the schedules for the month of June, they discovered that some would be assigned from time to time as reinforcements in four other units of the hospital: digestive surgery, gastroenterology and oncology, endocrinology and cardiology.

With their colleagues, they went on strike this Friday at noon, after an open letter denouncing the situation: “They take us for pawns, denounces Sabrina, CGT delegate. That we replace in other services unexpectedly, of course! But there, it is organized. Almost every day, one of us goes to another department. "A nurse who works in emergencies is because she chose it, she likes this service, she likes its dynamism", considers Naïma, FO delegate, in post for 17 years. Both recall that the service has gone from 18 nurses to 21, after the long strike of 2019 which affected many emergency services throughout France. “We are always asked for more when we have nevertheless shown our dedication,” says Naïma.

"It's scandalous in view of what we have just experienced"

The management indicates this Friday that “since 2018, the staff of the emergency department has been increased.

These numbers make it possible to guarantee a permanent presence of six nurses even in the event of leave or unexpected absences.

This guarantee given to professionals is important for the quality of care and working conditions.

In June 2021, absenteeism is particularly low and no agent has taken any leave.

In a way that is difficult to anticipate, the staff available are therefore greater than the staff required for emergencies.

It therefore appeared legitimate to deploy a few professionals to services in difficulty.

We cannot operate like that, indignant the CGT delegate.

Their working conditions must be improved to make their services attractive.

)".

He denounces the management of director Martin Hirsch: “He says he does not have the credits to hire.

But there are restructurings, closings of establishments and he does not want to end up with surplus staff.

This management is deadly, it scares the staff of the AP-HP.

It is scandalous in view of what we have just experienced.

"

Asked about the possibility of current recruitments in services in tension, the management of the AP-HP did not answer us on this point.
