Before the start of the new Meden round, the Wolfratshausen tennis club and the STC Geretsried have merged.
Like the 30 men, the men start in the regional league and are therefore the top-class teams in the district.
Wolfratshausen / Geretsried - two become one. For years the tennis clubs TC Wolfratshausen and STC Geretsried existed side by side. And that, although there was already a significant commonality with the Hahn family as tenants of both facilities on Geltinger Strasse (Wolfratshausen) and Königsdorfer Weg (Geretsried). "Now we have nailed it - both clubs have officially merged to form the STC Oberland," reports Christopher Hahn. A major advantage for the members is the extensive space capacity, there are now two halls in addition to a few clay courts. The STC sports supervisor has already noticed one thing since the official merger in February this year: “Club life has developed absolutely positively.“The togetherness was also promoted by a small club championship in which a number of active participants took part.
The upswing should continue in the Medenrunde starting this weekend, for which the STC has registered 23 teams. "The age groups range from U 8 to leisure men 75," reports Hahn. The figureheads are again the men I, who managed to stay in the regional league last year. Also this year, with captain Niklas Vonthein, David Gampenrieder and Yannick Maser, there are again a number of youngsters in the squad. The team is led by trainer Francesco Picco, with Lorenzo Rottoli and the brothers Nicola and Mattia Ghedin, a number of Italian guest players. "Of course, Francesco really wants to be promoted, but I think the goal should be a place in the top half of the table," said Chris Hahn. The STC men will strike for the first time on Sunday, June 13th,at 10 o'clock at the TC Blau-Weiß Fürstenzell.
The gentlemen 30 still have a longer bill open - with themselves. "At the fourth attempt, we should finally be able to get promoted to the regional league," says the sports supervisor.
With Picco, Nicola Ghedin, Christoph Schramm and himself, the team is strong enough to be able to stand up to the competition.
According to Hahn, the toughest opponent is likely to be the DJK Darching II, whose first representation is in the Bundesliga.
At the start on Saturday, June 12th, men 30 will have MTV 1879 Munich as a guest at 1 p.m.
