The resentment grows: Every day around 100 e-mails arrive at the Freising vaccination center.

The message is always the same: concentrated anger over the vaccination jam.

Freising

- In terms of initial vaccination, there has been little progress in the Freising district for some time.

The 500 to 600 district citizens who are currently receiving a prick every day in the vaccination center are all for second vaccinations.

And that will only change in about two weeks, the district office announced.

After all: On Thursday there was a larger delivery with the vaccine Moderna, so that 280 people surprisingly received their first vaccination.

The vaccination center also expects an additional vaccine in the coming week, which will then be scheduled for further initial vaccinations.

Delivery difficulties

The background to the weeks-long initial vaccination jam: In order to give as many citizens as possible immediate protection, primary vaccinations have been carried out in the past few months.

Now the second vaccinations - which are especially important because of the mutations - are due: at Astrazeneca after twelve weeks, at Biontech after six weeks.

“We have already exhausted the maximum amount of time available,” reports Söhl.

That means: there is now no way around the second vaccination.

And that while the vaccine is still in short supply.

"We could vaccinate even more," reports Söhl, "but there are delivery problems, especially at Biontech." The promised quantities would not arrive.

Therefore, it will only be possible to switch back to normal operation in two weeks.

Prioritization remains

Until then, the approximately 17,000 district citizens who have not yet been vaccinated and who are in priority group 3 (over 60 years of age or with previous illnesses) must be patient. They will then be given priority vaccination, promises Söhl: “Here at the vaccination center, we will continue to adhere to the prioritization. That is a very important message for all citizens. ”A healthy 59-year-old will have to wait some time before he is invited to the first vaccination.

Patience is also required from the staff at the vaccination center.

After almost six months of continuous operation, "signs of fatigue become noticeable," says Söhl.

Numerous overtime hours have accumulated, and now the vacation time is also beginning: “In terms of personnel, it is getting more and more hairy.” Then there is the psychological stress, for example from the many complaints and inquiries from annoyed citizens who have not yet been vaccinated: “The people are all Totally pissed, "reports the BRK district manager, who answers all emails with his team, but basically only has one message:" Patience, please! "

Allocation

In addition to the chronic shortage of vaccines, it is also politics that troubles the employees at the vaccination center: "The prioritization was lifted far too early," says Söhl.

“Expectations were aroused that we simply cannot meet.

We have to vaccinate the people who are on it first.

And for that we need more vaccine. ”It was said that it would come in large quantities in June.

In fact, however, there are quotas everywhere: from general practitioners, vaccination centers and company doctors.

“The family doctors and our vaccination center at the Stein barracks could vaccinate 10,000 people a week,” Söhl calculates.

The power that has been built up is enormous: "We work, but we need the vaccine for it."

Digital vaccination certificate

There is now even more work waiting for the employees of the vaccination center: everyone who will come to the vaccination center in Freising and Au in the future will also receive the necessary QR code for the digital vaccination card. This is guaranteed by the vaccination center with immediate effect. Those who are already vaccinated can contact a pharmacy from Monday 14 June. On the website www.mein-apothekenmanager.de, an overview of all pharmacies in the area that issue the digital vaccination certificate should be listed in the future.

Despite the bottlenecks, the corona vaccinations are progressing in the Freising district.

Since Pentecost, around 10,000 people have received their second dose in the Freising vaccination center (and Au vaccination center) alone.

In total, more than 37,000 citizens in the district now have full vaccination protection.

That's a good 20 percent.

Almost 67,000 people were vaccinated for the first time (37 percent).

A total of 104,383 doses were administered (as of Friday).
