Franziska and Florian Hallmann and Märchenwald fans have waited a long time for this: the park was allowed to reopen on Friday.

Already on the first day there was a lot going on.

Schongau

- One had already hoped for Easter, finally on Whitsun and meanwhile carefully looked at July in order to finally be able to unlock the Schongau fairy tale forest after many months.

There was never an opening perspective until an announcement by the Prime Minister last week turned everything upside down: Now, in June, the amusement park is allowed to reopen.

For the siblings Franziska and Florian Hallmann, who run the fairy tale forest together, as well as their team, the short-term decision meant above all: stress.

And great anticipation.

Schongauer Märchenwald: Lots of visitors on the opening day

Within a week, the park was prepared for the reopening on Friday. Much to the delight of the Opherk family from Offenburg, who were able to stop by the fairytale forest, at least on their last day of vacation. Among other things, Fabian and Romy had a lot of fun on a short train ride through the park. Many other families were also looking forward to the opening and went to the fairy tale forest on the first day. Including Carina Weihofen from Peißenberg. "Finally again". She used to work here as a pony girl, she says. And still likes to come here, now with her children. On his very first visit, son Lennart observes the goats with fascination, while sister Ronja diligently feeds and pats the animals.

There are some animals to marvel at here.

Porcupines, horses.

Or rheas.

They are currently being scrutinized by the Gansneder family from Huglfing.

“The two children burst into loud cheers when we said this morning that we were going to the fairy tale forest, say the parents.

Nathan and Hilda couldn't wait any longer either.

For days, her parents have been checking the website regularly to see if there is anything new and whether they can already buy tickets.

It was clear that we had to go to the fairytale forest on Friday, they say and laugh.

Mom's childhood memories are awakened in the park.

"A lot has changed, but you also discover some things that you have already played with yourself."

Schongau fairy tale forest: food stand expands gastronomy offer

The Hallmann family recently added some new attractions.

As reported, there were several construction sites in the park.

The toilet house in the style of a knight's castle, for example.

The Rapunzel Tower, the first interactive stand in the park, is also finished, but there is one downer: the speaker has unfortunately not yet been able to record the fairy tale.

In two weeks, the Märchenwald team hopes, visitors will be able to listen to the story.

Only a few dishes can currently be offered in the restaurant.

"Due to the long lockdown, our team in the restaurant flew around our ears, a large number of them were looking for new jobs and we only have a small team," explains the Märchenwald team.

Food trucks and market stalls were therefore sought via social media to expand the range.

In the back of the park you can now buy waffles, crepes and slush ice cream.

“A little fairground feeling”.

New booking system in the Schongau fairy tale forest

There is one more innovation: tickets can be bought online on the website (www.schongauer-maerchenwald.de) using a booking system. The prices are variably adapted to the circumstances. For example, it is a little more expensive when the weather is nice, there is high demand and on the weekend, and cheaper during the week, in the evening and when it rains. The team emphasizes that there is no time limit for how long the park can be visited. Of course there are also tickets available at the box office. Due to the Corona requirements, a maximum of 1000 people are currently allowed into the park at the same time. The booking system is intended to ensure that nobody has to wait in front of the park because the contingent has already been used up. Although the system only went live on Thursday, it was already "booked like crazy", it is said in the fairy tale forest. The team is in good spiritsstill to save the season. And already very satisfied with the first day, says Florian Hallmann.
