Geretsried - The historical Geretsried working group has been working on a series of issues about the former armaments factories DAG and DSC for several years.

It should be nine in total, five of which are finished.

This year the working group wants to publish two more issues.

Author Elgard Hartung deals with the forced laborers, author Friedrich Schumacher deals with the subjects of plant security, plant air protection and the plant fire brigade.

He's almost finished his research.

"Actually, this is a topic that Arthur Zimprich wanted to do and that Martin Walter took over," reports Schumacher about the two deceased members.

“You have given your research results back into the hands of the working group.” Zimprich left 16 handwritten pages, and Martin Walter also contributed information.

He himself tried to base everything on the legal basis and the regulations of the Nazis.

“A lot came together,” says Geretsrieder.

“I would not have thought that.” The publication should be over 100 pages long.

According to Schumacher, the former Nazi mayor of Wolfratshausen, Heinrich Jost, who was also head of plant security and air raid protection as well as defense officer, played an important role in Dynamit AG (DAG). “He had a great deal of power. I can prove that, ”says Geretsrieder. Schumacher regrets, however, that it is no longer possible to fall back on the knowledge of contemporary witnesses from the very beginning for specific questions. “We're 20 or 30 years too late. Now we can only talk to the children. ”Above all, Johann Herbrik would have liked to ask Schumacher a few more questions about the plant fire brigade and the photos that he gave to the city archive.

Bunker 637 had been the DAG main fire station since 1940 with garages for four large vehicles and a hose tower and thus the most important building of the DAG fire protection systems. The plant fire brigade was also used after bombing raids in Munich. Johann Herbrik came to Geretsried in 1941 at the age of 17. He lived in the barracks camp on the Böhmwiese and installed lightning rods on the buildings for the DAG on behalf of a company from Westphalia. Herbrik later became a founding member of the Geretsried volunteer fire department, which was founded in 1949 as a campfire department after a fire in the Gartenberg camp.

Schumacher found a book with registers from A to Z that was kept in the former community of Gelting. "From this book I found around 30 people who worked in the DAG security department," reports the 80-year-old. “Nobody knew that before.” Another important source was the DAG telephone directory with surnames and phone numbers. “As far as I have succeeded, I have also found out the first names from the city archive in Wolfratshausen.” Using the sober telephone directory and a map of the bunker with telephone numbers, Schumacher succeeded in giving the armaments factory a face. "The most important production facility, for example, was where Pulcra Chemicals is located today." All important buildings were connected by telephone,"So that you don't have to drive from the administration building to the site"

Schumacher is currently looking for ID cards from the Deutsche Sprengchemie (DSC) plant.

“I've already found some for DAG,” says Geretsrieder.

Because that was the larger of the two plants, the ID cards were given in different colors.

The one by Anton Bräuhäuser, for example - he was the head of the fire department at the DAG plant - is on display in the city museum.
