Corona has further accelerated the bike boom in the Miesbach district.

The tourism experts are now examining further measures for a better cycling infrastructure.

Also on Spitzingstrasse.

District

- How the last mile, but also longer distances can be covered by bike, that's what the online impulse "Bikeboom Mountains - through the district on two wheels" as part of the FIT forum of the Miesbach-Tegernsee district savings bank.

Moderator Markus Ziechaus from BayernConsult asked Tim Coldewey, product developer for cycling and hiking at the municipal tourism company Alpenregion Tegernsee Schliersee (ATS).

Coldewey confirmed Ziechaus' suspicion that the pandemic had proven to be a "fire accelerator" for the rush to the mountains.

There is also much more going on on the bike paths in the region.

The aim of the ATS is to offer all cyclists the best possible infrastructure. Regardless of whether you are a leisure cyclist, cyclist or everyday cyclist. This is the only way to get even more people to leave the car more often. The tourism experts have several arrows in their quiver. For example, a new map is to be published in the summer, which for the first time shows the entire cycle path network in the district and is intended to facilitate the planning of trips. The gaps that still need to be closed as well as measures that are already under construction are to be presented transparently on an online portal. They are also looking into the designation of a wheel protection lane on the uphill section of Spitzingstrasse and more bicycle traffic lights. At the same time, according to Coldewey, ATS is working on an even better network of workshops, rental companies and "Bed & Bike" providers.

Incidentally, employers are also asked to make it easier for their employees to commute by bike, for example with storage rooms and showers.

This also helps to avoid traffic jams on the roads.
