The authorities of the Russian capital, Moscow, extended the holidays from the 15th to the 19th of this June, and decided to adopt several precautionary measures after the increase in the number of infections with the emerging coronavirus.

And Sputnik reported that Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin signed an order extending holidays in Moscow from June 15 to 19, while retaining employee wages, suspending children's playrooms and dining halls in shopping centers from June 13 to 20, and closing cafes. Bars, restaurants and clubs from 11 pm to 6 am.

"The long weekend will help to deal with the increase in infections only if everyone is very careful these days," Sobyanin said.

Sobyanin pointed out that sports stadiums and recreational facilities in large city parks and natural areas will be closed, and visitors can only walk in them.

Sobyanin explained that the beginning of the summer season led to a significant increase in the flow of tourists and the activity of the city's residents themselves, and therefore the seasonal epidemiological peak changed from May to June with the increase in the number of diagnosed cases.

The Moscow mayor recommended that employers transfer at least 30 percent of employees to remote work from June 13, especially the elderly over 65 years of age and citizens with chronic diseases who have not yet been vaccinated.

Today, Russia recorded 13,510 new infections with the virus, bringing the total number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 5,193,964.

Moscow had the largest share of the number of injuries recorded during the past hours, with 6,701 injuries and 67 deaths.
