Tehran-Sana
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh called on the administration of US President Joe Biden to abandon the approach followed by the administration of former President Donald Trump, which was to exert maximum pressure on Iran after it failed.
The Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Khatibzadeh as saying in a tweet on Twitter that "the US administration's selective removal of some names from the list of the embargo imposed on Iran is not related to the nuclear negotiations and cannot be viewed as a message of good intentions, especially when it is associated with the renewal of economic terrorism."
Khatibzadeh added, "Instead of following in Trump's footsteps, Biden should abandon these pressures by effectively lifting the embargo measures in a verifiable manner."
In a related context, the Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs and head of the Iranian negotiating team in Vienna, Abbas Araqchi, considered that the economic terrorism practiced by Washington amid the outbreak of Corona is a “crime against humanity.”
"Trump is gone, but his illegal sanctions are still in place," Araqchi said on his Twitter account. "Therefore, there is no need for crocodile tears from some officials in the Biden administration, with the continued American efforts to impose suffering on 82 million Iranians."
