A strike movement had already occurred at the Carnavalet museum on May 29, the day of the reopening of museums in France.
The entrance to the oldest museum in the capital, located in the heart of the Marais, had been blocked by agents from Paris Museums working in the establishment, on strike against new working time rules.
This new mobilization relates to the same demands.

On May 29, the City of Paris had specified that the demands related to the establishment of 1,607 hours among the staff of the town hall.
Some demands were "

", according to the municipality.

The building had been closed since October 2016 to be able to carry out a complete renovation, from the renovation of the facades and the roofs to the upgrading of the site, for a budget of 58.3 million euros.
