At 2 o'clock in the afternoon today (12th), a hearse carrying a coffin was driving along Xintian Highway towards Sheung Shui, approaching the Zhoutou Substation, and suddenly caught fire. The fire was very violent and the smoke went straight into the air. The driver immediately left the carriage and Call the police for help.
Firemen rushed to the scene and opened their throats to put the fire out quickly. Initial investigations believed that the cause of the fire was beyond suspicious.
No one was injured in the incident and there is no need to evacuate.
The Transport Department said earlier that part of the traffic lanes of Fanling Highway (toward Sheung Shui) near the San Tin Public Transport Interchange have been closed due to vehicle fires.
Motorists can only use the remaining down lanes, and the traffic on the site was once heavy.
