In celebration of Dr. Bashar al-Assad’s victory in the presidential elections, a popular traditional event was held in Berri al-Sharqi district, in the eastern countryside of Hama, with the organization of a race for purebred Arabian horses with the participation of jockeys and horse breeders from various Syrian governorates.
In statements to SANA reporter, Muhammad Nizar Al-Mubayed, a horse trainer from Homs Club, that the event reflects the increasing number of horses and their breeders in Salamiyah, who wanted through it to express their joy by participating in the celebrations of the presidential elections.
Maurice Issa, President of the Salamiyah Equestrian Club, explained that the event comes to emphasize the importance of reviving the equestrian sport, the sport of ancestors, honor, chivalry, pride and originality, and the need to expand the scope of participation in its championships.
Karim Al-Hayek, a horse breeder, said: The organization of the event, which celebrates the victory of Dr. Bashar Al-Assad in the presidential elections, came as a result of the efforts of various activities in the Salamiyah region, indicating that the region is historically famous for breeding purebred Arabian horses.
Yara Shartouh, from Salamiyah, said: Horse breeders and those interested in equestrian sports wanted to join the Syrian masses in celebrating President al-Assad’s victory in the elections in their own way as a popular, traditional wedding to revive this authentic sport that symbolizes courage, chivalry and honor.
Engineer Muhammad Al-Wadi, Director of the Syrian Association for Purebred Arabian Horses, said: We congratulate the great effort made by those concerned to hold this event, which represents a popular wedding inspired by the heritage and history of the region, and a firm and frank response to the armed terrorist groups that have long attacked the people of this region after their spread in it for several years. The march of life is stronger than its terror, and the people will remain with their leader, President al-Assad, no matter how severe the trials and challenges increase, until the liberation of the entire Syrian lands and the restoration of safety and peace to its territory.
Dr. Tariq Abdel Rahim, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Syrian Horse Association, drew attention to the wide participation of horse breeders, jockeys and the mass crowds that attended the event, pointing out that a similar race for purebred Arabian horses witnessed last week in Lattakia Governorate on the occasion of the celebrations of the presidential election.
