Elements of the Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Daraa seized today a sweets factory that uses industrial colorings placed in mineral water cans in the manufacture of sweets.
The Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Engineer Hamidi Al-Khalil, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the colorants do not include any data such as the source, the date of validity or the origin, indicating that these materials are used to color sweets, some of which are prohibited from circulation and harmful to public health, and it is prohibited to use them.
He added that the elements of consumer protection seized the quantity as assets pending laboratory analysis to find out what it is.
Engineer Al-Khalil indicated that the elements also seized in the same factory the remnants of “waste” sweets, which had an undesirable appearance, used in the manufacture of sweets. The entire quantity was duly seized, and the necessary legal measures were taken against the violator and tightened them in light of the issuance of the results of the analysis.
On the tenth of this month, the directorate closed a plant for the production of Al-Raha Al-Hawrania for a period of seven days to control insects with the sesame substance prepared for the Al-Raha industry.
