Twelve members of the Venezuelan delegation, including players and the technical commission, tested positive for Covid-19 on the eve of the opening match of the Copa América 2021 in which they will face host Brazil, as reported this Saturday by the Secretary of Health from Brasilia, where the match will be played.
"On Friday night, the Ministry of Health of the Federal District was notified by Conmebol that twelve members of the Venezuelan soccer team, including players and members of the technical commission, tested positive for covid-19," said the entity.
"They are all asymptomatic" and "isolated," he added.
Meanwhile, 16 players from the Venezuelan league were summoned urgently and have already embarked on the trip to Brazil to complete the delegation that will face the tournament.
Conmebol had reported this Saturday that each team will have "unlimited changes" in cases of coronavirus in order to complete the teams.
