A man and two children actually wanted to go on a fun excursion on the Neckar.

But the boat tour ended life-threateningly.

Wendlingen - In the vicinity of Wendlingen, three people put their lives at risk on Friday evening (June 11th).

They were traveling on the Neckar in a rubber dinghy.

The plan was a fun tour from Nürtingen to Wendlingen.

But at a small weir, the man and the two children got into trouble.

They were stuck in a roller of water and could no longer free themselves, as the Wendlingen fire department announced.

The three of them weren't even wearing life jackets.

A roll of water is the name given to dangerous currents, which repeatedly lead to fatal accidents.

Back currents on the water surface can pull people or animals into the roller.

To free yourself from it is difficult even for experienced swimmers, informs the DLRG.

The husband and two children are stuck in the water roller: the fire brigade hardly ever comes to the scene of the accident

Eyewitnesses noticed the three boaters in distress on Friday evening and called the rescue workers.

The fire brigade, DLRG and rescue service came with a large contingent.

Seven vehicles and 32 emergency services were on site from the Wendlingen fire brigade alone.

The fire brigade wrote that the DLRG and the rescue team moved out in a similar line-up.

The rescue operation was tough. The bank at the accident site was so densely overgrown that the fire brigade first had to cut away bushes and undergrowth. In addition, the current of the Neckar was very strong due to heavy rain in the last few days. "The problem for us was to get to the rubber dinghy without endangering our own forces," said the head of operations, Bastian Sturm, in the report. The boat was prancing back and forth. "If the boat occupants had fallen into the water, it would have been difficult to see them," explained Sturm. Eventually, however, the rescue workers managed to throw a line to the inmates and pull them ashore. The three people received medical care on site.

Storm warns of rubber dinghies between Nürtingen and Wendlingen.

For the inexperienced, this is life-threatening.

Because water rollers repeatedly cause dangerous accidents that can be fatal.
